Advanced Visionary Research Studies

At Rawafid, we go beyond the direct application of Western therapeutic models. We believe in the necessity of subjecting these models to rigorous study and cultural analysis from a local perspective.

One of the key models that has drawn our research attention is the Gottman Method, which has proven effectiveness in diagnosing family-related issues and guiding therapeutic interventions based on scientific principles.
A single Gottman model scale consists of 17 distinct pathways/modules that address various dimensions of marital relationships, including communication, conflict resolution, emotional values, and psychological responses.
While many of these pathways are considered cross-cultural, others are embedded with cultural assumptions that may not align with the societal norms and values of certain regions—particularly in Arab and Gulf contexts.
This is where Rawafid plays a pivotal role. Our research team is leading initiatives to examine these non-cross-cultural modules, assessing their applicability within local settings through:

Conducting qualitative field studies on the targeted population.

Redefining the module outcomes to better reflect the cultural and social standards of the local community.

Adapting measurement tools and intervention techniques to ensure diagnostic and therapeutic effectiveness without compromising the core values of individuals and families.

Through this effort, we deliver a culturally adapted version of the model that maintains diagnostic rigor while aligning with local sensitivities—establishing a national and regional imprint for the United Arab Emirates in the advancement of social care models.
